―Rising Sun Program‖ Base and<br />

Spaceflight Summer Camp Launched<br />

at <strong>PKU</strong><br />

Ceremony <strong>of</strong> the opening <strong>of</strong> ―Rising Sun Program‖ base and China teenager aviation<br />

and spaceflight summer camp, which is hosted by United Nations Educational,<br />

Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Institute <strong>of</strong> International Spatial<br />

Information and Technology, Ministry <strong>of</strong> Science and Technology <strong>of</strong> China (IISIT),<br />

and organized by <strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong> branch <strong>of</strong> IISIT and Aosai Technology<br />

Development Center <strong>of</strong> Beijing, was held at <strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong> on July 6th.<br />

On the ceremony, Shihezi No. 2 Middle School <strong>of</strong> Xinjiang and South Ocean<br />

International School <strong>of</strong> Qingdao were awarded to be the first two schools <strong>of</strong> ―Rising<br />

Sun Program‖ base. More than 100 students and teachers from the two schools<br />

make the majority <strong>of</strong> the camp members, the rest <strong>of</strong> whom are about 20 excellent<br />

students selected from Beijing, Sichuan, Guangdong and etc.<br />

According to executive vice dean <strong>of</strong> IISIT, Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Zheng Lizhong, ―Teenagers‘<br />

Cultivation Program <strong>of</strong> International Spatial Technology‖ (―Rising Sun Program‖ for<br />

short) was opened in 2002 by UNESCO and IISIT, which is aimed at boosting the<br />

communications in technology and culture among youth all over the world. The<br />

Program has successfully held a series <strong>of</strong> activities since its opening, and has<br />

received great supports form a great many <strong>of</strong> students, their parents and all circles <strong>of</strong><br />

the society.<br />
