Peking University, Beijing, Sep. 18th, 2007: On September 5th, Prof. Zhang Weiying,
Dean of Guanghua School of Management announced a statistics about research
papers in the faculty meeting of Guanghua, according to which Guanghua School
had a total of 108 papers published from 2002 to 2006 in SCI and SSCI. This figure
is not only far ahead of the rest of the famous domestic business school, but also
takes the lead in Asia-Pacific region.
As a leading business school, the importance Guanghua School of Management
attaching to academic research is far beyond people‘s imagination. According to
Prof. Xu Xinzhong, Vice Dean of PKU Guanghua School of Management, Guanghua
has set a very rigid standard to assess teachers‘ academic achievements. The Mode
that Class A and Class B academic publications as well as the promotion system of
teachers they authorized generally meet the international practice. In the past five
years, professors of Guanghua School published 21 papers in category A
publications together.
The Department of Applied Economics is one of the good examples reflecting
Guanghua School‘s strong passion to academic pursuit. According to the newly
appointed Dean, at least four professors of this department had papers published in
the first class economics publication such as Journal of Economic Theory in the past
two years.
In the National Summer Camp of Excellent Undergraduates organized by Guanghua
School in late August, many participants became more determined to join the
Graduate School of Guanghua after communicating with professors of Guanghua,
since they found out that the priority of Guanghua was not to develop business
leaders, but to generate management knowledge first.
