Beijing College Chess Training Held at

Peking University, Beijing, May 26, 2004: The Beijing college chess training
program, which aims to popularize the chess culture, promote the development of
sports cause in college, enrich the life of college students and improve the
comprehensive quality of them, was held in Health Science Center of Peking
University on May 20th. It was the prelude of the first Patriot College Chess Culture
Festival of Beijing Area,
The program is sponsored by China Chess Association, Recreation and Sports
Office of Beijing Committee of Education and Beijing College Students Sports
Association and undertaken by Beijing Patriot Chess Club.
In later period of time, Patriot Chess Club will hold four rounds of chess training and
communication activities at Beijing colleges, cultivating some professional or
half-professional student players to compose a team of training teachers in order to
train the chess funs in their respective colleges. The club will use its special resource
- many professional chess players including Xie Jun and arrange them to coach in
colleges.
In this September when the Patriot Chess Ceremony is formally held, a series of
activities including opening ceremony, Beijing universities chess rivalries will also
take place to promote the popularization of chess culture at Beijing colleges.
