Peking University, Beijing, June 11, 2007: The closing ceremony of spring semester
of 2007 was held on 7th, June. Spring semester is a part of the undergraduates‘
association project between Peking University (PKU) and Yale.
The closing ceremony was opened by a short film made by the students which
recorded dribs and drabs of their study and life in the past one year.
Xia Hongwei, Executive Vice-Director of Office of International Relations of Peking
University (PKU), pointed out that the policy of multi-disciplinary teaching happens to
be same with the Yuanpei Project. This project follows the high education trend of
the world, and is an efficient channel of exchange between China and the United
States. The success of the Undergraduates‘ Association Project emblemized the
establishing of a new education pattern. The Office Director of the Project in Yale,
Prof. Luo Fulin attributed the success of the project to many people. He especially
thanked the Office of the project, Yuanpei Project, Office of International Relations
and International College for Chinese Language Studies, and he highly recognised
the students‘ diligent study.
Finally, Pro Luo Fulin and Lu Xiaodong, Vice President of Executive Committee of
Yuanpei Project issued certificates to the students.
The PKU-Yale Undergraduates‘ Association Project was prepared for a long time
before started up in the autumn of 2006. 20 students are chosen from Experimental
Class of Yuanpei Project and the same number of students are chosen from the
undergraduate students in Yale every year, and they study together at PKU. Courses
are given by outstanding professors from both Universities.
