Peking University, Beijing, May 22nd, 2004: On the evening of April 21st, eight
outstanding students from the School of Basic Medical Sciences, the School of
Pharmaceutical Sciences, the School of Public Health, People's Hospital, PKU
Hospital and Institute of Mental Health competed for the title of Academic Star and
PKU Academically Top 10 Student of Health Science Center in HSC conference
center.
During the contest, each candidate presented his/her research work in terms of
background, purpose, content, technical schemes, essential results and application
value, and briefly introduced his/her major research work accomplished during
school time. After their presentation, candidates answered the judges' questions as
well.
Several authoritative experts were invited to judge this contest. Among them are
Prof. Ma Dalong from the School of Basic Medical School, Prof. Guo De'an from the
School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Prof. Hu Yonghua from the School of Public
Health, etc. Meanwhile, students who attended the contest also participated in
grading the eight candidates' performance, and their grades contributed to each
candidate's final score, too.
In the end, Prof. Ma Dalong made a pertinent comment on the contest. He spoke
highly of graduate students' research work at present stage, and then pointed out a
few shortcomings. Finally Prof. Ma expressed his hope that students shall continue
to work hard to achieve greater progress in the future.
Judging by experts' grading and students' grading together, the final result of the
contest was as follows:
First Prize winner: Xue Lixiang,
Second Prize winner: Wang Fei and Yan Hui,
Third Prize winner: Wang Min, Dong Xueyuan and Chang Lin,
