The Lecture about ‗Friends for Life

Peking University Beijing, Nov. 30th (2005): A lecture about ‗Friends for Life‘ was
given in the hall of May 4th Gymnasium, Nov. 30th 2005. Michael Wayne Uno and
Dr. Roger Fitch, who are both from America, gave their lectures.
Dr. Roger Fitch talked first about ‗The Attitude Pyramid‘. He said the friendship could
be divided into four levels. The first and bottom one is ‗Acquaintances‘. And then,
from more communication, it comes to the second step, which can be called
‗Common Friends‘. If you can know more about each other, maybe it will then come
to the third level, the ‗Good or Close Friends‘. The top level is more difficult to get,
which is the ‗Committed Friends‘. As the number of your friends will reduce from the
bottom to the top, a pyramid can be seen, which is called ‗The Attitude Pyramid‘, or
you can call it the ‗Friendship Triangle‘. What is the three border of this triangle? Dr.
Roger Fitch gave the audience three topics. Those are ‗Trust, as to say you can trust
me‘, ‗Know, as to say I would like to know you better‘, ‗Acceptance, as to say I accept
you as you are‘.
Then Mr. Michael Wayne Uno gave his lecture. He focused on ‗What type are you?‘
He gave all the audience a handbook each. An interesting test of ‗What type are
you?‘ about the personality was done. After the test, Mr. Michael Wayne Uno
explained all the types to the audience, including the strengths and the weaknesses.
He aroused people to know much about themselves and also to know much about
their friends. As he mentioned, it would be helpful to build a friendship firm. To close
his lecture, he played a little opusculum himself to show the audience the personality
of all the types of people.
It then turned to a question time. Many audience asked questions about their own
problems.
At the end of the lecture Mr. Michael Wayne Uno reminded the audience that to be a
friend is more important than to have a friend.
