MUN is under Way at PKU

Peking University, Beijing, Mar. 17th, 2006: Harvard World Model United Nations will
be held at Peking University from March 27th to 31st. It is the first time that the World
Model UN enters Asia and the scale of the conference this year is the largest ever
since the outset.
There are 37 nations and districts, 1458 university students throughout the world to
participate in 2006 Harvard World MUN conference, and 185 delegates from China.
(12 universities in the Mainland, 1 in Hong Kong, 2 in Taiwan)
Harvard World Model United Nations Conference was initiated by the professors and
students of Harvard University and held in various countries according to the
tradition, specifically speaking, every year Harvard will cooperate with a university
outside US. Since 1991, World MUN has gone through Europe, North & South
America and Africa as one of the most important conferences of Model UN.
Due to the effort of PKU MUN Society, this magnificent MUN conference will be held
at Peking University. The students around the world will get together in Yingjie
Exchange Center, representing various countries to discuss international hot topics
and to seek resolutions. Furthermore, there are several new committees this year,
including Islamic Conference Organization and Nongovernmental Organizations.
During the conference, there will be a series of social events, when the delegates will
have an opportunity to see the traditional Chinese performances and tour around the
Forbidden City, etc. which will unfold the Chinese culture to the young generation.
