The Fifth Anniversary of PKU‘s
Combination with Beijing Medical
College

Peking University, Beijing, Apr. 12th, 2005: On the afternoon of April 7, 2005, a
symposium took place in the second conference room in the Yingjie Communication
Center, for observing the fifth anniversary of the combination of the former Peking
University and former Beijing Medical College.
It was presided over by Min Weifang, Secretary of the Party Committee at PKU, and
participated by President of PKU Xu Zhihong, former Secretary of the Party
Committee at PKU Wang Debing, the vice Standing Secretary of Party Committee
and vice President of PKU Wu Zhipan, and Ke Yang, the vice standing president and
vice standing director of PKU health science center and so on.
Xu Zhihong pointed out that both PKU and BMC bear fine tradition, and they are of
the same origin with a long history. It has been approved that after combination, PKU
has made tremendous progress in subject development, education as well as
scientific research. Also, according to him, it cannot be emphasized too much to
strengthen their relationship, especially in the integration of medical science into
chemistry and biology.
After that, many participants expressed their opinions and provided their suggestions
for forging closer lies in branches of study between PKU and PKU Health Science
Center, for the purpose of laying the cornerstone for establishing a first-class
university in the world.
With Min Weifang making a concluding speech, the symposium came to a
successful close in an animated and friendly atmosphere.
