Intonation Ceremony of Selected
Scientific Essays was held at PKU

Peking University, Beijing, May 16th, 2005: During Beijing science and technology
week, in cooperation with ―2005: the year of physics ‖international memorial
activities, sponsored by Beijing Science and Technology Association and the Union
of Beijing society and scientific circle, Beijing Language Institute Intonation Research
Association, PKU, Petroleum University of China, Beijing Science and Engineering
Tech together undertook the job of holding the selected scientific essays intonation
ceremony with the name ―standing on the giants‘ shoulders—approach physics, get
closer to Einstein‖.
The first intonation show came off on the night of May 14th at PKU office building
auditoria. For 100 years, many physicists, science historians, science philosophers
and science sociologists have been doing researches from different perspectives on
Einstein‘s contribution to the whole scientific world and his influence on the society.
Their points of view was uniquely charming, with lots of philosophical scientific ideas
inside. These essays could have a great inspiration on the public, especially on our
youth to love, learn and use science.
On such special days of the year of physics, there would be no better ways to spread
the scientific thoughts than gathering these essays and elocating them. The
intonation ceremony had bright characteristics: the art of intonation could bring the
audiences not only the scientific thoughts but also enjoyment of the beauty of this art;
the ceremony increased the number of essays wrote by university men which
reflected the Chinese younger generation‘s ambition to keep the science spiritual
alive and do our work for our country; the professional intonation artists came on the
same stage with groups of university men, all through the ceremony there was full of
applause and laughter.
To give more chance for university men to enjoy the combination of science and art,
the intonation ceremony would come off twice more. Petroleum University of China
and Beijing Science and Engineering Tech would be the hosts for the second and
the third time.
