2008 PKU Campus Open Day Held

Peking University, Beijing, Apr. 19, 2008: The open celebration of 2008 PKU
Campus Open Day and Recruitment Policy Consultation Conference were held in
the Centennial Commemorative Hall, which attracted a lot of senior high school
students, who would take the college entrance exam, and their parents.
Prof. Lin Jianhua, Executive Vice President of PKU, Prof. Xu Chongren, leader of
PKU Beijing Recruitment Committee and Prof. Liu Mingli, Dean of the PKU
Admissions Office attended the celebration. They introduced the education and
teaching condition, important recruitment policies and enrollment attention matters,
and answered all the questions from senior high school students and their parents
face to face.
Together with all institutes and departments of PKU, some other universities also
came to introduce their recruitment policies in the Hall and the May 4th Road, such
as Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, University of Science and
Technology of China, Nanjing University, the University of Hong Kong and the
Chinese University of Hong Kong. Compared with former years, the amount of
attended universities increased.
After the celebration, School of International Studies and School of Electronics
Engineering and Computer Science made large-scale introduction and exhibition of
their own situations. On the Triangle, various associations of PKU showed
themselves and the PKU Main Library, Arthur M. Sackler Museum of Art and
Archaeology at PKU and May 4th Sport Center were opened to society as well. The
excellent art performances brought by the PKU Student Art Troupe on the square of
the Hall also attracted students and their parents. This was a new activity this year to
show the various extracurricular activities and the versatility of PKU students in order
to short the distance between the society and the school. PKU Student Career
Center also set consulting booth to give professional advices on choosing
appropriate majors or careers for the students who would take the college entrance
exam. There were two expert lectures for the senior high school students and their
parents to know PKU comprehensively.
The PKU Campus Open Day has been held annually on a weekend day during the
latter half of every April since 2001. It aims to provide a platform for communication
