Peking University, Beijing, April 17, 2007: An exhibition of Scientific and
Technological works by PKU students at the Centennial Commemorative Hall has
drawn wide attention since its opening from April 14th. What‘s on display are a
collection of extra-curricular inventions and other works demonstrating the charm of
science and technology.
Two ―fish‖ swimming in the water attracts many visitors, they swim to and fro,
swinging their tails, and nothing seems different from fish in the sea except that there
are two antennae on the head of each fish. It turns out that these are inventions by
the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of College of Engineering. All their movements
are controlled by a computer. ―These fish can be used for under-water detection, if
installed with camera, they can even collaborate with each other in fulfilling a task‖,
said the inventors.
Other inventions demonstrated on the venue include a multi-functional portable ECG
Monitor by School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science and a new type
of Photoelectrocatalytic air purifier by College of Environmental Sciences, etc.
Along the wall of the exhibition hall, many green boards are set up to show off as
many as 50 works that had won PKU‘s Challenge Cup and May 4 Youth Science
Competition.
As part of PKU‘s annual May 4 Cultural Festival, the Science and Technology
Exhibition of year 2007 was held by the Committee of Communist Youth League and
Extracurricular Activities Guidance Center of PKU.
