Peking University, Beijing, Sep. 26th, 2006: The Association Project of
Undergraduate Students between PKU and Yale started up in Overseas Exchange
Center of PKU. Min Weifang, Director of school committee of PKU and Peter
Salovey, Dean of Undergraduate College of Yale attended the ceremony.
Leaders from both universities all attach much importance to the project which is a
brand-new oversea exchange mode. President of PKU Xu Zhihong and President of
Yale Richard Levin cosigned the understanding aide-memoire in the end of 2005
after a long time arrangement. This Project started up in this autumn and will be kept
for three years or even longer if it runs successfully. According to the project, more
than 40 students, half from PKU and half from Yale, will study together at PKU. In
addition, PKU and Yale will select excellent professors to teach them. It can not only
build a syncretic surroundings for the students to study, but also broaden their
international visual field and enhance the intercommunication between the two
culture.
During the ceremony, Director Min Weifang and Prexy Peter Salovey expressed that
as this Project according with the tide of the world higher education they were
confident to succeed in this cooperation. Thereafter, student delegates from PKU
and Yale addressed. They said that studying together with the students from another
country would be a stirring experience to all of them, so they would make great
efforts to know much about the culture from each other and accelerate the
intercommunication between the new youth.
