"China's top 10 Outstanding Youths"

Peking University, Beijing, Dec. 4th, 2007: Xu Chuanxi, schoolfellow of Peking
University, won the 18th "China's top 10 Outstanding Youths" Award, which was
jointly organized by the China Youth Federation, the China Youth Development
Foundation, People's Daily and other 9 media organizations in Beijing on Dec 2nd.
Professor Xu Chuanxi, Dean of School of American and Comparative Law in China
University of Political Science and Law, was admitted to the English Department of
Peking University with the highest score in the college entrance examination at his
age of 15, and became the only master of the comparative study of Chinese and
Western cultures filed of the Department of International Politics at PKU four years
later. He went to the United States for further study in 1990, and received Doctor‘s
degrees of Social and Cultural Anthropology at Yale University in 1996 and Law at
Harvard University in 1999, when he joined the United States-Paul, Weiss, Rifkind,
Wharton & Garrison LLP in New York, in charge of legal matters about the Company
Law, including some Fortune 500 company's Chinese business.
However, he came back to China five years ago, with the payment of 60,000 RMB
per year, instead of 200,000 dollars per year in USA, established China's first
Comparative Law Major, and provided legal and social support for the development
of national legislation as member of Standing Committee of the Working Committee
on Law of National People‘s Congress. He was employed to be international legal
experts by some relevant state ministries and was honored to be a "model with
patriotism of the new era" for his contribution on defending national interests in many
international legal and political fields. Moreover, he was elected to be the first
academician of the Law Institute of United States, who was from the mainland of
China, in 2004, and then "the new century talents" by the Ministry of Education.
