Peking University, Beijing, May 22nd, 2004: Senior delegation of the IEEE
(Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers)Computer Society, led by Dr. Carl K.
Chang, the chairman of the society, came to visit Peking University on May 21 and
talked with PKU group about the cooperation on science research and education.
During the visit, Yang Fuqing, the academician and executive council of the School
of Software and Micro-electronics invited Dr. Carl K. Chang to act as the international
advisor of the school. On the evening, the reception held in Beijing Great Wall Hotel.
More than 70 famous professors, scholars and researchers from Peking University,
Tsinghua University, Chinese Academy of Science, IBM China Institute,
MOTOROLA China Institute, LENOVO China Institute came together and got good
exchange. On the morning of May 22, Dr. Chang gave a report on distributing system
for the teachers and students of the School of Software and Micro-electronics.
IEEE came from the merger of the AIEE (American Institute of Electrical Engineers)
and the IRE (Institute of Radio Engineers), date to 1884.From its earliest origins, the
IEEE has advanced the theory and application of electro technology and allied
sciences, served as a catalyst for technological innovation and supported the needs
of its members through a wide variety of programs and services.
