Pudong Held at PKU

Peking University, Beijing, Nov. 5th, 2005: For those who are anxious for their jobs,
today‘s ―2005 Express Train from Campus to Pudong, Beijing Talents Recruitment
Talk‖ is no doubt a big opportunity. This is the third time that Pudong has held such
kind of recruitment talk. The former two were held in 2000 and 2003.
The talk, which opened today in the Building of Life Science of PKU, was jointly
organized by the Department of Personnel of Shanghai Pudong New District
Committee of the CPC and Pudong committee of Communist Youth League. All
together nine universities including PKU and Tsinghua University took part in the
talk.
The attending leaders highly praised the Pudong New District. Mr. Zhang Yan, Vice
Secretary of CPC PKU Committee commented that ―Pudong has a good reputation
and a good system, and pays attention to the talents‖, encouraging students to take
Pudong into account when they choose their careers.
The arrangements of the Talk were quite considerable. Each attending student was
provided with detailed information of all the participating enterprises, as well as the
situation of official-recruitment in Shanghai and the policies of
postdoctoral-recruitment in Pudong.
Most attending students were majoring in sciences and engineering and preferred to
work in foreign companies. In their criterion of choosing a company, the prospect of
the company was in the first place instead of the salary.
Besides the foreign companies, national organizations like Pudong Court and
People‘s Procuratorates also attracted much attention. A student from the School of
Law of PKU said that the stability of officials was an important reason for her choice.
The talk began in 9:30 and lasted for five hours. It is reported that Pudong will move
