<strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong>, Beijing, November 30, 2004: About 2 weeks ago, the Life<br />

Department <strong>of</strong> the Student Union <strong>of</strong> <strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong> sponsored the Food & Drink<br />

culture festival, the most important part <strong>of</strong> which was the appraisal <strong>of</strong> the Top Ten<br />

Dishes among all the dining rooms (restaurant excluded) at <strong>PKU</strong> through handing<br />

out investigation questionnaires.<br />

The steamed buns with pickled greens ranks first, the second dish to the tenth are as<br />

follows: Pork and celery dumplings and Spicy chicken drumstick meal from Campus<br />

dining hall, Braised upper part <strong>of</strong> pork leg seasoned with soy sauce from No.1 dining<br />

hall, boiled beef and carrot dumplings from Campus dining hall, mixed rice meal in<br />

stone pot from Nongyuan dining hall (second floor), iron platter sliced beef fried rice<br />

from Yiyuan dining hall, spicy chicken wings from Yannan dining hall and eggplants<br />

in brown sauce from No. 5 dining hall.<br />

The dishes involved in this public appraisal contained all the dishes in every dining<br />

hall. Each dining hall first commended the first eight dishes to the Food & Drink<br />

center after appraising through comparison with reference to the quantity sold in<br />

February this year. After that, the Food & Drink center decided the number <strong>of</strong> dishes<br />

<strong>of</strong> each dining hall that is to attend the final appraisal according to the practical<br />

condition <strong>of</strong> each dining hall and finally came out with 55 dishes.<br />

This activity aims at enhancing students‘ understanding <strong>of</strong> the food and drink<br />

environment in campus and <strong>of</strong>fering guidance for students to have reasonable meal<br />

and pay attention to food nourishment to keep in good health condition. The Student<br />

Union put out 1500 shares <strong>of</strong> investigation questionnaire in the triangle place and<br />

Wan Liu school district and reclaimed 1206 shares <strong>of</strong> available investigation<br />

questionnaire.<br />
