Dr. Lunsen Speaks on ‗Sexual and
Contraceptive Behavior in the West –
Dynamics and Trends‘

Peking University, Beijing, Oct. 10th, 2005: Dr. Rik HW van Lunsen from the
Department of Sexology & Psychosomatic Ob/Gyn, Academic Medical Center,
University of Amsterdam, gave the lecture ‗Sexual and contraceptive behavior in the
west —— Dynamics and Trends‘ in the PKU ‗Chia Tai‘ International Communication
Centre at six pm on Oct. 10th 2005.
Dr. Rik HW van Lunsen was the former president of Dutch Society for sexology. Now
he is the president of Dutch Foundation for contraception, the editorial committee of
‗European Journal for Contraception and Reproductive Health Care‘ and the member
of International Academy of sex research.
Before Dr. Rik HW van Lunsen gave his lecture, he first let his audience see a film
named ‗The wonder about love‘. The film told a story about a couple‘s real life, from
the marriage to the birth of their baby and so on, which let the audience know how a
man and a woman grow up from love.
After that was his lecture time. The main idea is to let people know the objective,
importance and the effective way of contraception. During his talk Dr. Rik HW van
Lunsen made some comparison between the Western countries and China such as
the first sexual intercourse age, abortion rates and the numbers of new
cases(incidence) of STD/HIV. Dr. Rik HW van Lunsen gave people a safe and
effective advice of contraception named ‗Double Dutch‘ which means that girls use
the prophylactic and boys use the condom at the same time.
After the talk, audience got the chance to ask questions. Many boys and girls had
asked questions about their own troubles. The concept of the very ―last‖ question
was nearly impossible. Even when time is out the audience were unwilling to leave
and kept on asking.
