Peking University, Beijing, May 21st, 2004: Recently, PKU‘s Yang Fuqing-Wang
Yangyuan Academician Fund, the amount of bonus of which to each winner is the
biggest at PKU, has been awarded to the winners.
Yang Fuqing--Wang Yangyuan Academician Fund was founded at PKU by Yang
Fuqing and Wang Yangyuan, two academicians of Qingniao Corporation in 1999.
Since 2001,the annual donation has reached 400,000 RMB and it mainly covers four
learning fields: Humanities, Sociology, Science and Information. Up till now, the
amount of bonus of the fund is the biggest at PKU and it has a profound influence
upon the teachers and students who are doing research on the campus. This year,
eleven teachers who have done an excellent job in teaching or research and twenty
students who are good both in moral quality and scholarship receive the award. And
till this day, donation from the Fund has reached 1.5 million RMB and altogether 44
teachers and 80 students have been awarded by the Fund.
As famous scholars home and abroad, academician Yang Fuqing and Wang
Yangyuan have been absorbed in the teaching and researches of Computer Science
for more than ten years. Besides, they are also active in transforming the results of
the researches into practical productive forces and founded Qingniao Corporation in
1994. Relying on the technology and person resources of PKU, Qingniao has
achieved extinguished success in promoting the transformation of the results of
researches into market products.
The early years‘ study and development of the two academicians of Qingniao rely on
PKU and now they are promoting the progress of PKU with their wisdom and power
of which the establishment of the Fund is the representation and the proof. It‘s said
that in order to further promote the development of PKU, academician Yang Fuqing
and Wang Yangyuan intend to enlarge the amount of the donation and extend the
