An Interview with the Winner of the
6th Annual ―Student 5.4 Award‖,
Wang Xuedong

Peking University, Beijing, June 6: Introduction: Wang Xuedong is a student of the
Stomatology School of Peking University, class of 2009. His grades are exceptional,
once was rewarded the PKU 5.4 Scholarship, also received the excellent medical
student award, national scholarships, and much more. He is also very active in the
extracurricular activities. In 2003 he was especially active medically during the SARS
epidemic.
After receiving numerous awards, over ten between 2002 and 2004, Wang has
always stressed that school work is of utter importance during college years. He also
mentioned that his original intention for continuing his college education was to
graduate and contribute to the nation.
Of course, Wang has never forgotten this intention in his college years. Ever since
his sophomore year, he grades have been the best of his class, where the grades for
his required classes are all straight A‘s. The seven years so far that he has spent at
PKU has helped shape his extremely detailed and serious manner.
Being a student of the doctorate program, Wang puts extreme importance on
scholarly research. During his internship, he finished a number of thesis, while also
wrote many articles for several medical journals.
Last year, with the rank of best in his class, he successfully majored in orthodontics,
under Professor Zhou Yanheng.
Wang believes that a combination of academic excellence and social practice is
extremely important. He shows this by having leadership positions in the student
body, such as the class government, student union and many more.
Being part of student affairs is the second classroom for Wang. According to him, the
definition of student affairs is servicing the students. And what he treasures the most
