PKU Recruitment Policy Introduction
Conference 2007 held

Peking University, Beijing, April 14, 2007: Two conferences were held to introduce
the recruitment policies of Peking University for Beijing students at the Centennial
Commemorative Hall this morning. High school teachers and students‘ parents
thronged to the hall to inquire about PKU‘s specific admission policies for the
application in spring before the national college entrance examination.
PKU Executive Vice President Lin Jianhua first gave a brief introduction on the
condition of different disciplines in recent years and the objective of PKU in the near
future. The main process of the conference is presided over by Prof. Xu Chongren of
the School of Life Science, member of Beijing Recruitment Committee, and Liu
Mingli, an official of PKU Admission Office.
Prof. Xu and Liu explained the questions most concerned by parents and teachers,
such as the number of students to be admitted, how to estimate the possible
admission line by the statistics provided by PKU. Prof. Xu advised that parents and
examinees should not ignore the influence brought by the recruitment of overseas
universities going on in China. Liu emphasized that the recruitment of the main
campus and the medical school of PKU would be implemented separately.
According to the new educational policy at PKU, students admitted by different
colleges and schools would have to learn liberal arts before choosing their major in
the second or the third year, said Liu.
