Computer Science of PKU Celebrates
6th Anniversary

Peking University, Beijing, May 5, 2008: After the 110th anniversary of Peking
University (PKU), the 6th anniversary ceremony of School of Electronics Engineering
and Computer Science (EECS) of PKU was held in Centennial Commemorative Hall
on the morning of May 5, which was also the 50th anniversary of Department of
Electronics, the 30th anniversary of Department of Computer Science, the 30th
anniversary of Institute of Microelectronics and the 23 anniversary of Center for
Information Science. Together with the students on red commemorative T-shirt, the
leaders of PKU and EECS, representatives including teachers and the schoolfellows
from EECS attended the ceremony.
Prof. Wang Limei, Vice-Secretary of CPC PKU Committee, addressed first. On
behalf of all the PKU faculties and students, she extended a warm welcome to the
guests and schoolfellows for their coming. She mentioned that although the School
of EECS was set up only for 6 years, the Department of Radio and Electronics
already opened the door towards the information science for PKU 50 years ago. Now
the School of EECS played an important role in the development of national
information science, and made tremendous progress in building the discipline and
research and training the talents. She hoped that on the basis of inheriting and
carrying forward the fine traditions, the school could make higher goals, supply more
high-quality talents for the society, and improve the level and capacity of social
service as well.
After the speech of Prof. Wang Limei, the student representatives gave flowers to the
founders of different departments included in the School of EECS, such as Wang
Yongquan, Xu Chenghe, Zheng Lemin, Yang Fuqing, Wei Ziqiang, Wang Yangyuan,
Han Ruqi, Chi Huisheng, and Tang Shiwei.
