<strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong>, Beijing, Oct. 17th, 2005: World famous Hong Kong kungfu star<br />

Jackie Chan delivered a 90-minute improvisational speech in the Centennial<br />

Memorial Hall <strong>of</strong> <strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong> this morning.<br />

This interaction between Chan and <strong>PKU</strong> students came after the show <strong>of</strong> his new<br />

blockbuster ―The Myth‖ on the same stage.<br />

Chan pointed out that piracy is a serious problem that affects the box <strong>of</strong>fice takings <strong>of</strong><br />

Hong Kong. One <strong>of</strong> the purposes <strong>of</strong> his lecture at <strong>PKU</strong> was to encourage people to<br />

watch films in cinemas instead <strong>of</strong> downloading them from the internet.<br />

He gave an example <strong>of</strong> South Koreans who greatly support national film products,<br />

take planes <strong>of</strong> domestic companies when traveling, use ―made in Korea‖<br />

commodities and go to cinemas to watch Korean films. He emphasized that we<br />

should rely on the audience, not the film stars, to renounce piracy.<br />

―The Myth‖ is a film with magnificent landscape and astounding music. It tells a<br />

thousand-year-long love story between a general in the Qin Dynasty and a princess<br />
