Periodical ―Foreign Students Studying
at PKU‖

Peking University, Beijing, Apr. 15th, 2005: A new periodical ―Foreign Students
Studying at PKU‖ will be published for the first time on Apr.15. It is initiated by foreign
students as well as Chinese students at Peking University in order to help the
contemporary foreign students at PKU more easily mix into campus life. The first
editor in chief is Ke Xinying, student from Canada who is now studying in School of
International Studies.
At Peking University, there are more than one thousand foreign students from more
than one hundred countries. Their lives and thoughts are not well understood by
PKU students, and this periodical, ―Foreign Students Studying at PKU‖ will provide a
meaningful channel for communication.
For the first publication, 2000 copies will be produced and delivered to the
dormitories of foreign students and Chinese students and also placed in the pleasure
places near campus. The content includes a report about interviewing some
Rwandan and North Korean students, a discussion about the foreign students‘
studying and life conditions and some references about leisure and traveling suitable
for students.
Foreign students at PKU have always been one of the most active groups among
those in the universities of China. The number of the group members is also the
biggest. Ke Xinying said, ―Although the outcome of the first publication has met a lot
of difficulties, it is by luck that we are brought together, which is very valuable.
Students from different places work together and this is the foundation of our
attracting students to read our periodical. I hope that the communication activities will
achieve greater success in the future.‖
The release conference will be held on the noon of Apr. 15th in No.2 Building of
Shao Yuan.
