At last, Ms. Jian Sufen, sister <strong>of</strong> Mr. Jian, addressed her thankfulness to all the<br />

guests presenting. When recalling his academic achievements and attitude to family,<br />

Ms. Jian couldn‘t help crying owning to love and missing.<br />

After the meeting, the guests and relatives <strong>of</strong> Mr. Jian attended the ceremony <strong>of</strong><br />

hanging the tablet <strong>of</strong> Former Residence <strong>of</strong> Jian Bozan at the elementary school<br />

attached to <strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />

There are some more introductions about Jian Bozan. He was born in Taoyuan<br />

County on Apr. 14th, 1898. He was a Uighur and historian. In the summer <strong>of</strong> 1924,<br />

he went to California <strong>University</strong>, USA to study economics. When back to Beijing, he<br />

dedicated himself to the study <strong>of</strong> Marxism and Chinese history and took part in the<br />

debates on the nature <strong>of</strong> Chinese society and social history. In May 1937, Jian<br />

became a member <strong>of</strong> the Communist Party <strong>of</strong> China. After the July 7th event (1937<br />

AD), he was a pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Beiping <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> the Republic <strong>of</strong> China and wrote the<br />

noble book Tutorial <strong>of</strong> Historical Philosophy. About 60 theses and the book Summary<br />

<strong>of</strong> Chinese History were published during the war against Japan. After the war, he<br />

went to Shanghai to take the position as a pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Da Xia <strong>University</strong> and leader<br />

<strong>of</strong> Sodality <strong>of</strong> Doctors in Shanghai. Two years later he moved to Hang Kong working<br />

as a pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Da De <strong>University</strong>. In Oct. 1949, he went back to Beijing preparing<br />

the establishment <strong>of</strong> Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and was<br />

elected to be the committeeman.<br />

From the beginning <strong>of</strong> the 1950s, Jian immersed himself into historic study. When<br />

the ―Cultural Revolution‖ broke out in 1966, he was misdeemed to be the reactive<br />

academic authority <strong>of</strong> bourgeoisie and dead together with his wife at <strong>Peking</strong><br />

<strong>University</strong> at the night <strong>of</strong> Dec. 18th, 1968. On Sep. 1, 1978, Jian Bozan was<br />

exonerated by the Party Committee <strong>of</strong> <strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />
