The Education Exhibition of Peking University and Tsinghua University took place in
the Exhibition Center, Hong Kong, on June 5. Students, who are in the sixth or
seventh year of middle school with 4A grades in F5 and also a Chinese citizen with
permanent residence in Hong Kong, could have an opportunity to be admitted into
the best two universities in mainland without exams.
The qualified students were required to fill in the registration form and also wrote a
self-introduction essay. The principals of the two universities expressed that they
would each enroll at most fifty students, and they might continue to enroll Hong Kong
students without exams in the future.
Ning Gaoning, general manager of Huarun Group, said that in order to encourage
Hong Kong students to study in mainland, Huarun would provide about fifty million
Hong Kong dollars during the next seven years to fund Hong Kong students to study
in mainland and each student would receive about thirty thousand Hong Kong dollars
per year. It was estimated that about four hundred students would be funded within
the next four years. He also said that the activity would strengthen the intercourse
between students in mainland and Hong Kong and the students would be welcome
to work in Huarun after graduation.
