PKU Students: Celebrating the 10th
triumph

Peking University seemed to come back to 22 years before on Nov. 16th, 2003.
Celebrating for the tenth triumph of our volleyball heroes the crowd cheered the
victory ―Draw together - develop China‖.
From 5 pm. more the five hundred students assembled in the biggest refectory,
Nongyuan at Peking University watching the game. when our volleyball team won
Japanese by three to zero, everyone applauded and jubilated ―Long live our
volleyball heroes! Long live China!‖ Someone waved the national flag singing songs.
Ge Minglei, director of the physical department of PKU Student Union, said not only
all the refectories but also most dormitories were watching the game.
In 1981 we won our first volleyball champion of the world. The exciting student went
out of Peking University yelling to express their patriotism. The scene had become
an eternal memory of the times.
Although the national power and the circumstances change now the victory
encouraged all students of Peking University once again.
Wang Ye, a student from medicine department, said ―After 17 years‘ turndown the
triumph was hard-won and heart-stirring. What‘s more important, the victory won
glory for our motherland. It will inspire the national pride and solidarity.
It‘s said that Peking University has organized a series of celebrating activities and
planned to invite volleyball heroes to deliver a speech. What‘s more, a banner full of
signature of the students will send to our heroes as a gift.
