the great efforts made by the contestants of the PKU delegation during the
preparation period. She recalled that every contestant sang until midnight every day,
practicing his or her songs hundreds of times. Among the 12 contestants, the
six-student group drew great attention at the competition. They won the final silver
medal through great hardship that audiences in front of the screen can‘t imagine.
From the timbre of each note, the harmony of each part, to the dancing arrangement,
those six boys came through many difficulties under the persistent supports of
professor Hou and all the PKU students concerning about this competition.
The key point of professor Hou's speech was her suggestion of setting up a system
that will make Peking University Student Choir a campus treasure that can be
handed down. ―My students once said that they‘re only passing travelers to the choir,
while in fact, I myself am no more than a passing traveler.‖ Speaking about this,
professor Hou choked with sobs. All through the conference, we could find eyes filled
with tears everywhere.
