Camp Held Promotion Meeting

Peking University, Beijing, Oct. 31st, 2005: The Promotion Meeting of 2006
Returning Visit Program of the second session of PKU-Harvard Communication
Camp was held in the Overseas Exchange Center yesterday.
As one of the sponsors of this meeting, PKU Students‘ International Communication
Association (SICA) has intended it to be an opportunity to introduce in detail the
Returning Visit Program of PKU-Harvard Communication Camp and attract more
intellectuals.
Honorary guests and former representatives delivered speeches in this meeting. The
selection schedule and the requirements for taking part in this activity were also
introduced to the audience. The last section of the meeting was reserved for
questions and answers.
Peking University and Harvard University have kept an enduring good relationship
with each other. PKU-Harvard Communication Camp was established by SICA and
Harvard College in Asia Project (HCAP) with the goal of enhancing the direct
communication between students of the two universities and the understanding of
Chinese and American cultures. It is greatly supported by the leaderships of both
universities.
The curtain rises for the first session of PKU-Harvard Communication Camp on
March 2004. Twenty students from Harvard University had a one-week visit to
Peking University. On February 2005, 16 students from PKU paid a returning visit to
Harvard.
With the opening of the second session of PKU-Harvard Communication Camp on
March 2005, 12 Harvard students discussed with PKU students Sino-American
economic problems, the relation between American politics and religion, college
education of the two countries and comparison between the life styles of the two
countries. At the same time, they also visited a lot of historical places in Beijing to
have a touch upon the charm of traditional Chinese culture.
