Camp Held Promotion Meeting<br />

<strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong>, Beijing, Oct. 31st, 2005: The Promotion Meeting <strong>of</strong> 2006<br />

Returning Visit Program <strong>of</strong> the second session <strong>of</strong> <strong>PKU</strong>-Harvard Communication<br />

Camp was held in the Overseas Exchange Center yesterday.<br />

As one <strong>of</strong> the sponsors <strong>of</strong> this meeting, <strong>PKU</strong> Students‘ International Communication<br />

Association (SICA) has intended it to be an opportunity to introduce in detail the<br />

Returning Visit Program <strong>of</strong> <strong>PKU</strong>-Harvard Communication Camp and attract more<br />

intellectuals.<br />

Honorary guests and former representatives delivered speeches in this meeting. The<br />

selection schedule and the requirements for taking part in this activity were also<br />

introduced to the audience. The last section <strong>of</strong> the meeting was reserved for<br />

questions and answers.<br />

<strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong> and Harvard <strong>University</strong> have kept an enduring good relationship<br />

with each other. <strong>PKU</strong>-Harvard Communication Camp was established by SICA and<br />

Harvard College in Asia Project (HCAP) with the goal <strong>of</strong> enhancing the direct<br />

communication between students <strong>of</strong> the two universities and the understanding <strong>of</strong><br />

Chinese and American cultures. It is greatly supported by the leaderships <strong>of</strong> both<br />

universities.<br />

The curtain rises for the first session <strong>of</strong> <strong>PKU</strong>-Harvard Communication Camp on<br />

March 2004. Twenty students from Harvard <strong>University</strong> had a one-week visit to<br />

<strong>Peking</strong> <strong>University</strong>. On February 2005, 16 students from <strong>PKU</strong> paid a returning visit to<br />

Harvard.<br />

With the opening <strong>of</strong> the second session <strong>of</strong> <strong>PKU</strong>-Harvard Communication Camp on<br />

March 2005, 12 Harvard students discussed with <strong>PKU</strong> students Sino-American<br />

economic problems, the relation between American politics and religion, college<br />

education <strong>of</strong> the two countries and comparison between the life styles <strong>of</strong> the two<br />

countries. At the same time, they also visited a lot <strong>of</strong> historical places in Beijing to<br />

have a touch upon the charm <strong>of</strong> traditional Chinese culture.<br />
