Courses for Training Elites in
Propaganda and Culture System

Peking University, Beijing, Nov. 13th, 2005: Workshop for training elites in
propaganda and culture system completed on Nov. 11th at Peking University. Nearly
40 elites in propaganda and culture system in Jiangsu Province participated in the
workshop which lasted for about one month. The workshop is designed in respond to
the commission of the Propaganda Department of the Communist Party in Jiangsu
Province and aimed at cultivating leaders in propaganda and culture system.
Students of the workshop are well-educated and highly competitive in their related
fields. About 41% of the students have a master degree or above and the number of
students who have associated high-grade title or above even reaches a proportion of
72%. The students are selected from the front line of the propaganda and culture
system after many examinations. Many of them are professors, advanced journalists,
advanced editors or composers etc.
The further education of the elites reflects the government‘s respect and emphasis
on knowledge. Just as the president in the Training Center of Peking University put
it, ―Knowledge is power in the ever changing informational society. Leaders in Jiang
Su Province realized the core value of knowledge and human resources and plan to
design a new plan for further education of the propaganda and culture elites in a
7-year period.
Considering for the fact that the students are all well-educated and with practical
experience, the Training Center of Peking University designed a specific course plan
for their situation, including politics, philosophy, economics, management, law,
literature art and other subjects. Famous professors, such as Liang Zhu, Ye Lang,
Zhou Wangsheng and Ning Shao gave lectures with examples of contemporary
political and economic situations. The courses are highly evaluated by the students
and they benefited a lot from the extensive and multi-subjects analysis of famous
professors.
