Prof. Fang Jingyu Has Dinner with
President of Finland in Helsinki
High-Level Forum on Climate Change

Peking University, Beijing, Feb. 26th, 2008: Fang Jingyun, professor of the Ecology
College at Peking University, along with IPCC Chairman Dr. Rajendra K. Pachauri,
the European Parliament in charge of environmental and public health problems-Rita
Myller, the European Commission member Dr. Olli Rehn and many other
representatives in academic, political, industrial and media field, were invited to
attend the Helsinki High-Level Forum on Climate Change, which was hosted by
Helsinki University under the commission of Tanner-Akatemia Foundation, and
delivered a speech entitled "Carbon sequestration in China's ecosystems" on
February 14, 2008.
Political circles of Finland attaches great importance to the activities, thus the
President of Finland Tarja Halonen, the Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen, as well as a
number of government ministers attended the forum.
Professor Fang Jingyun was invited as a special guest to the hospitality evening in
the evening, where Tarja Halonen and many EU's councilors and eminent persons
were present, and was seated with the President Halonen around the table. Halonen
talked with Professor Fang from time to time during the evening of more than two
hours, covering a number of topics, such as Finland's history, the Chinese education
system, Finland retirement protection system about pension, the trade, particularly
for the forest products, between China and Finland, as well as the sales and use of
mobile phone Nokia in China. Moreover, President Halonen recalled the scene that
she had met friendly with the Chinese leaders.
