Peking University, Beijing, May 5th, 2008: At the celebrating convention of her 110th
Anniversary, PKU promulgated ―Wu Si‖ Student Award, ―Wu Si‖ Class Award, ―Cai
Yuanpei‖ Award, Preeminent Alumni Award, Preeminent Education Award, etc. to its
students, teachers, alumni and other outstanding persons. Wu Zhipan, Executive
Vice Chairman of PKU Council, presided over the ceremony.
―Wu Si‖ Student Award and ―Wu Si‖ Class Award were set up in 1998, just before
PKU‘s 100th Anniversary. These two biyearly awards are the highest honors for PKU
students and classes.
Also, ―Cai Yuanpei‖ Award is the highest honor for PKU professors, which
promulgated each five years, and this is the second time. The celebrating convention
reached its climax when Secretary of the Party of PKU Min Weifang and President of
PKU Xu Zhihong awarded this high prize for the ten honored professors.
After the ceremony, Wu Zhipan said that all the honors promulgated today are the
highest ones of PKU. He believed that with the support of its alumni and the society,
students and professors of PKU would be able to construct a first-class university of
the world.
