Comes Xu Jinglei, with Her "Letter"

Peking University, Beijing, Mar. 18, 2005: The director of the hot film "Letter from an
unknown woman", Xu Jinglei, came to PKU last night just after the second show of
her film was displayed yesterday at PKU Hall.
The film mainly tells the story about a woman who loved a man deeply for her whole
life. Despite of three times abandoned by the man and each time they met, the man
had always forgotten her and saw her as a stranger, she was very glad to accept any
of the man‘s requests, even after the next morning she might be forgotten again. It is
a so moving film that when the terminal-song played by the lute was displayed, great
applauds could be heard in every corner of the hall.
Although being well informed that the director would come beforehand, the audience
were excited to scream when Xu and Lin Yuan, the actress who acted childhood of
the heroine walked on to the stage. During the 30-minute-period, many struggled to
raise their hands to get a chance to talk with Xu, some wanted to express their love
towards the actress and director, while others had something about the film to
discuss with her. Xu was very kind to answer every question and she was also very
glad to see so many of her fans. She told the audience although she was awarded
―52ND San Sebastion Film Festival Best Director‖ by the film; there are still many
things for her to learn. She expressed her great thanks towards the audience and
said,‖ I hope that my nest film can also be shown at PKU and at that time, I‘ d be very
happy to come again.‖
