Peking University, Beijing, Apr. 26th, 2006: Hundreds of alumni gathered around at
Yingjie Communication Center on April 22nd, celebrating Peking University‘s 108th
anniversary. Chen Wenshen, Executive Vice President of PKU, presided over the
ceremony and a number of celebrities from PKU alumni association were invited.
The cerebration ceremony started with the distribution of alumni-card, which was a
routine of Peking University to give the alumni a sense of identity and family
welcome. Later, so-called ―I love my Alma Master‖ donation attracted the alumni, all
of who claimed that making some contribution to PKU would be a great pleasure.
The formal ceremony began at 9:40, when Professor Xu Zhiyong, the President of
Peking University and the Director of PKU alumni association introduced the change
and achievements of the school in the past years. In his address, Xu emphasized
that alumni resource was precious to a university and key link for the school to
communicate with the outer world. Later on, there was a public lecture about
Professor Wang Xuan, whose life story deeply impressed everyone in the ceremony.
