Peking University, Beijing, March 30, 2010: Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi and other
provinces within the southwestern region of China are currently under a
once-in-a-century drought that is affecting over 60 million people, where 20 million
do not have drinking water. The members of the Student Serving Troop of PKU have
been closely paying attention to the drought and started to organize the donation
entitled of ―Ambassador of Rain‖. This donation event, which took place on March
27, is a direct reflection of the project ―Action for Rain‖ by the China Foundation for
Poverty Alleviation (CFPA).
On the morning of March 27, the Student Serving Troop of PKU organized a
donation booth at the Triangle on the main campus. In order to remove all suspicion
of corruption, all donations made to this cause was recorded by the name of the
donator and the amount donated. However, many students chose to donate
anonymously.
