―Youth is finite, just like the water of the Weiming Lake
Dream is infinite, just like the boundless ocean
Devote the finite youth to infinite dream
This is PKU man

Weiming Lake is ocean‖
Anyone who sees the words above will be profoundly moved. And PKU alumnus Xu
Xiaofeng, who graduated from the English department at PKU in 1983, had an idea
to produce a commemorative album in order to keep a record of the process of the
development of the original music at PKU in the past twenty years. The album is
named‖ Weiming Lake is Ocean‖, and is expected to be published before July, when
graduates leave school.
This album is invested by Xu Xiaofeng and another alumnus Xu Wanchun, and is
strongly supported by the Publicity Department of the Party Committee and Alumni
Association at PKU as well as external media such as Chinaren Website, and so on.
According to the promoter, Xu Xiaofeng, since early 80‘s, when pop music became
popular in the mainland, PKU students had already take the lead in composing many
songs to record the stories taking place at PKU. It is reported that the album is
supposed to contain original music of different stages at PKU from the early 80s,
which reflect one aspect of the changes taking place in the twenty years at PKU.
As former President of the Warner Record Company, Xu Xiaofeng resigned from his
job in March and decided to devote most energy to the development of his alma
mater. In the following two months, all the songs included in the album will be
recomposed and completed in a recording studio.
