Peking University, Beijing, Dec. 22nd, 2005: The 50th anniversary of PKU
Transaction (Science) and Contribution Awarding Ceremony was held at the Yingjie
Communication Center on the morning of 21st. The vice president of PKU Lin
Jianhua, Assistant President Li Xiaoming, the director of the 5th committee of the
Transaction Zhao Guangda, the chief editor Chen Jingyuan, academician Zhao
Bailin and Xu Guangxian, etc. attended the conference.
The PKU Educational Administration Committee produced ―The Decision on
Publication of PKU Transaction‖ in 1954, which nailed down the ultimate goal of the
transaction – to spread the fruit of the scientific research, to exchange academic
thoughts and to freely unfold academic debate.
The first issue of the Transaction (Science) was published in Dec. 1955, Prof. Zhou
Peiyuan as the first chief editor. Among the first generation of CAS (Chinese
Academy of Sciences) academicians, seven were in the committee of the
Transaction. Since then, many an academician worked as an editor in or published
his dissertation on the Transaction.
The Transaction was embodied by four authoritative scientific periodical
search-databases: CA (US), SA (UK), Periodical Digest (Russia) and Scientific and
Technological Document Report (Japan), as well as by the famous professional
research periodicals MR (US), Zbl Math (Germany) and GeoRef (US) etc. Since
2005, the articles in the Transaction were all embodied by Ei, and they were also
included by at least 26 authoritative Chinese periodicals and databases.
Since 1992, the Transaction has always been awarded as the core Chinese
academic periodical. It has made tremendous achievement for over half a century.
Many distinguished scholars who have made outstanding contribution to the
development of the Transaction delivered their speeches at the conference.
Academician Xu Guangxian, the most productive scholar in the history of the
Transaction, has published 69 dissertations. He suggested that the Transaction
