for six weeks (2 periods per week of 40 minutes a period), the ITS was used in experimental group 2 for same<br />

six weeks while DTS was used for the control group for the same period simultaneously. Fourthly, the BTAT<br />

was administered as post – test to all the three classes simultaneously and data collected were analyzed.<br />

Procedure for Interactive Teaching Strategy (INTS). It involves:<br />

a) Introducing the lesson topic<br />

b) Brief review of previous but related knowledge<br />

c) Stating the objectives of the new lesson<br />

d) The teacher presents the new task<br />

e) Students (in group) discuss the task among themselves highlighting possible solutions and areas of<br />

weaknesses<br />

f) The teacher review major ideas with students by referring to specific instructional materials to be used<br />

g) Students help one another over aspects of specific learning tasks which appear difficult and over<br />

testable materials<br />

h) Provision of progress evaluation/test until students reach the mastering standard set.<br />

i) Students are given feedback on the test by the teacher.<br />

j) Students’ individual scores are pooled and average, the average score represents the score of each<br />

student in a group.<br />

Procedure for the Independent Teaching Strategy (ITS). This involves:<br />

a) Introducing!the!lesson!topic<br />

b) Brief!review!of!previous!but!related!knowledge!of!the!topic!<br />

c) Stating!the!objectives!of!the!new!lesson!<br />

d) Students!are!shown!different!tools!equipment!components!and!process!connected!to!the!<br />

topic,!to!explain!what,!how!where!and!why!things!are!done!the!way!they!are!done.!<br />

e) A!few!demonstration!are!first!done!by!the!teacher!<br />

f) Students!are!not!guided!but!allowed!to!work!by!themselves!to!master!and!discover!facts,!<br />

theories!methods!and!practices!<br />

g) Progress!evaluation!<br />

Procedure for the Dependent Teaching Strategy (DTS). This involves:<br />

a) Introducing the lesson topic<br />

b) Brief review of previous knowledge<br />

c) Stating the objective of the new lesson through direct teacher interaction with students<br />

d) Some use of questioning is made<br />

e) Class exercises decided by the teacher<br />

f) Progress evaluation.<br />

INTS, ITS and DST teaching Strategies.<br />
