The German minority in Poland.The evolution of national identification /Nemecká menšina v Poľsku. vývoj národnejidentifikácieUrszula SwadźbaAbstractThe aim of the paper is to present the specificity of the national identity of the German minority in Poland. Firstly, thegeneral situation of the German minority in Poland along with its historical development (the inter-war period, moving fromPoland to Germany during the 40s of the twentieth century, a period of real socialism) will be discussed. Reasons for the populationgrowth of the German minority in the period of systemic transformation and its territorial distribution, will be indicated.Then, based on two recent National Censuses (2002, 2011), the current number of people in the German minority group will beshown.The second part of the paper will depict the evolution of the ethnic identification of the German minority, based on theauthor's own research carried out in Głogówek in the Opole region. The research was conducted by the author in 1988, 1995,2005 and 2010. Models of national identification will be presented in conclusion.Keywords: German minority, Poland, national identification, evolution.AbstraktCieľom článku je predstaviť špecifickosť národnej identity nemeckej menšiny v Poľsku. V prvom rade sa budeme zaoberaťcelkovou situáciou nemeckej menšiny v Poľsku spolu s jej historickým vývojom (medzivojnové obdobie, sťahovanie z Poľskado Nemecka počas 40. rokov dvadsiateho storočia, obdobie reálneho socializmu). Uvedieme dôvody rastu populácie nemeckejmenšiny v období systémovej transformácie a jej územného rozšírenia. Následne na základe dvoch posledných národných sčítaníľudu (2002 a 2011) uvedieme aktuálny počet ľudí v skupine nemeckej menšiny.Druhá časť článku zachytáva vývoj etnickej identifikácie nemeckej menšiny založený na autorkinom vlastnom výskume,ktorý vykonala v meste Głogówek v Opolskom vojvodstve.
