Aromanians: culture and civilization<br />

the fourth section – B entitled Aromanians: culture and civilization<br />

includes twelve papers treating different, but complementary aspects.<br />

one of the fields approached deals with Aromanian personalities<br />

or with romanian ones, who were supporters of the Aromanian cause.<br />

the latter is the case of Mrs. Maria pariza’s paper who discussed V.A.<br />

urechia’s personality; the latter, although a romanian, devoted a good part<br />

of his life to the national and cultural integration of the Balkan Aromanians.<br />

V.A. urechia’s meritorious contribution in the late nineteenth century to<br />

support the Aromanian cause together with other Aromanian personalities<br />

was highlighted. Several papers have brought into question the sources,<br />

which are plenty and are hosted by archives and libraries specialized on<br />

the Aromanian culture and civilization, sources that must be continually<br />

researched for revisiting the historical and cultural aspects. Such are the<br />

papers presented by dr. Virgil coman, Prof. dr. Adina Berciu-drăghicescu,<br />

dr. Tănase Bujduveanu, dr. Florin Marinescu. Based on research of new<br />

archival funds in Bucharest, constanţa and Tulcea, these papers surfaced<br />

to the scientific plan issues relating to the presence of the Aromanians in<br />

constanţa and Tulcea counties, subjects on the activity of the romanian<br />

Institute in Saranda (Albania) and on the role of the Aromanian churches<br />

in the Balkan peninsula. these churches were built and supported by the<br />

romanians living at the north of the Danube, who have maintained for<br />

almost a century the language, the faith, the traditions and the family of<br />

the Aromanians from the south of the Danube. the subjects pertain also to<br />

romanian books existing in the libraries of the monasteries and hermitages<br />

from Mount Athos.<br />

A special place is occupied by the paper of Prof. dr. Nicolae Şerban<br />

Tanaşoca who brought into discussion, based on archival documents, “The
