The Romanian Ethnographic Atlas and the Romanian Ethnographic<br />

the collective of ethnography of the Institute of ethnography and<br />

Folklore had as project, for more than 40 years, the romanian ethnographic<br />

Atlas (Aer). It was accomplished considering the romanian population<br />

within the borders of the romanian state. Following the steps of the<br />

romanian linguistic Atlas that went beyond the borders of the country,<br />

the linguists applying the questionnaires in the romanian communities<br />

outside romania too, at the romanians from timoc, Istro-romanians,<br />

Megleno-romanians and A-romanians, the ethnographers have to extend<br />

the researches to the areas where there is population of the same ethnic<br />

origin.<br />

In 2003 the first volume of Aer, The Habitation, editura Academiei<br />

române and Monitorul oficial, Bucharest, 2003, 271 p. was published.<br />

then, vol. II, The Occupations, editura Academiei române, Bucharest,<br />

2005, 295 p. and vol. III, Popular Equipment and Food, editura Academiei<br />

române, Bucharest, 2008, 287 p. the volume IV, Popular Art and Costume<br />

has all the maps elaborated and computed and now the modeling of this<br />

volume are on the way to be done. the whole work, the elaboration and the<br />

computing of the maps, the digital processing of the images, the modeling,<br />

the translation was accomplished by the collective of the ethnography of<br />

the Institute. the last volume of the Atlas, Feasts and Customs, will be<br />

elaborated in 2011 and published probably in 2012–2013.<br />
