Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bucharest”, a<br />

little discussed matter in the romanian historiography, namely, the position<br />

of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1945, on the eve of the paris peace<br />

Conference towards the “Aromanian issue”.<br />

A total of four papers, those of prof. Dr. radu Baltasiu, lecturer<br />

dr. dorin lozovanu, dr. Gabriela rusu-Păsărin, and Emil ţîrcomnicu<br />

presents the results of field work in the interdisciplinary fields: sociology,<br />

ethnology, demography, history, and linguistics. the researches were<br />

done in romania but also in the south of the Danube: in Aromanian and<br />

romanian residential areas, the area occupied by the romanians in timoc,<br />

in Vojvodina (Serbia), the lipovan community in romania, the Aromanians<br />

in Albania, Macedonia, Greece and Serbia.<br />

A presentation which has generated extensive discussions was that of<br />

dr. Viorel stănilă 1 on the problem of the neo-Aromanian spirit in the current<br />

political context of the Balkan peninsula; the position of each country in<br />

the Balkan peninsula concerning the presence of the Aromanians on this<br />

territory has been presented, in turn.<br />

A different paper, but also on Balkan issues, it was that of Mr. Apostol<br />

patelakis from thessaloniki about the civil war in Greece in the period<br />

1945–1948, the war which had negative consequences on the lives of the<br />

Aromanians living in those territories.<br />

to conclude, the presentations held in the fourth section – B of the<br />

International Symposium “the Book. romania. europe”, September<br />

20 th –23 rd , 2010, and published in the present volume, are the results of<br />

field investigations, of research carried in archives and libraries assuring<br />

thus their high academic standards. As a result, new issues were put into<br />

circulation or older issues were revisited. A special place had the papers<br />

based on field work, demonstrating that such information will become<br />

increasingly important in the future and will win a greater reliability.<br />
