of some present aspects of cross- making and of the cultural significance of<br />

the roadside crucifixes in these areas;<br />

b) public: participants in cultural events related to the project theme<br />

organized locally, regionally, nationally, internationally (the international<br />

conference, local debates, plastic art exhibitions and photos as documents);<br />

c) specialized public: scientific community.<br />

the beneficiaries through media channels are:<br />

a) radio audience (the most significant parts for defining the roadside<br />

crucifixes as a sign of cultural identity were broadcast to the “oltenia”<br />

radio, Craiova – in specialized shows);<br />

b) virtual Internet public (the visitors of the site project). During<br />

carrying out the project, we wanted to recapture the image of a trade which<br />

is dying out (namely the trade of making crosses), to present the context<br />

and the dynamics of today’s popular trade, to identify the centers where<br />

cross-making is still active, the ritualisation of roadside crucifixes, as well<br />

as to draw a typology which should also include recent roadside crucifixes<br />

(functional and symbolic changes, figure and aesthetic representation etc).<br />

the romanian communities from Bulgaria and Serbia represented<br />

in this context by the union of the romanian ethnics “AVe” from<br />

Bulgaria and the literary-Artistic Society “tibiscus” from uzdin, Serbia;<br />

reintroduction in the cultural network of some passive traditional values;<br />

emphasis/reactivation of some elements/components of the local identity<br />

that have been socially forgotten.<br />

the increase of the radio station audience as a result of the broadcast of<br />

the entire public events at “oltenia” radio Craiova Station met two targets:<br />

• the radio reception of the research results (the “oltenia” radio<br />

Station broadcasts in the Bulgarian timoc);<br />

• the integration of the project results in the usual subjects of the<br />

traditional radio shows at “oltenia” radio station, craiova, “izvoraşul”<br />

radio’s journal for folklore and ethnology and “la fântâna dorului” radio’s<br />

journal for the romanians everywhere.<br />

Media communication of the traditional values, involving the<br />

perspectives of a quality ethnological research, respecting, at the same<br />

time, the standards of an efficient radio communication.<br />

the previous research regarding the romanian roadside crucifixes<br />

have created a large space for analysis, offering important information<br />

about their cultural and historic context, numerous ethnographic details<br />

about the roadside crucifixes’ typology.<br />

new aesthetic, ethnologic/anthropological valuations of the roadside<br />

crucifixes are necessary, especially for those from the oltenia region, but
