a, specific to the other Macedo-romanian groups, where the essential term<br />

comes, derived from armân, makes the inclusion of romanian fărşeroţi<br />

under the appellative of Aromanians only as a generalization in terms of<br />

dialect and identities of this Balkany romanian component branch.<br />

The fărşerot ethnonym’s etymology supports multiple versions,<br />

according to one that might have as origins the Fraşari village, once a very<br />

important region for Aromanians.<br />

Fărşeroţii are known by this name also in foreign literature, for example<br />

in German as Farscheroten or Pharsalioten. In Bulgarian and russian they<br />

are known as Farseroti and for the Greeks are farsaliotes. Greeks are calling<br />

them fărşeroţi arvanitovlahi, meanning Vlachs of Albania. the Albanians<br />

call them vllëh and sometimes dub them çoban.<br />

As a large part of Albania Aromanians live in the area known as epirus,<br />

a regional identification name for them is epiroţi, epiraţi or ipiriţi.<br />

Moscopoleni name was not initially used by his carriers, but now is<br />

spread in literature and among Macedo-romanians. the name comes from<br />

the Moscopole village, in Albanian Voskopojë, known as Voscopojari.<br />

Muzăchiarii are called like this because of the name of the territory and<br />

of the Muzachia (Myzeqeja) plain from Albania.<br />

A group of Macedo-romanians, already assimilated by the Albanian<br />

language is called gubleari, also being met into several villages in Southern<br />

Albania. the specific nickname probably comes from a place called<br />

Gubleara where, according to information collected in the field, it is said<br />

to have been among the first Aromanians region which lost the language,<br />

but in the meantime conserving the customs and ethnic patrimony of the<br />

Aromanians.<br />

The ethnic processes that can be pointed out at Aromanians are<br />

generally the same for all Aromanian communities, but their historic and<br />

socio-politic features set up some peculiarities.<br />

Among the processes that mark the ethnic evolution can be mentioned:<br />

1. linguistic and cultural assimilation, which gradually leads to loss<br />

of ethno-linguistic identity;<br />

2. Intensive migration to urban centers and rural Aromanian traditional<br />

settlements depopulation;<br />

3. Migration outside Albania, in general temporary and for socioeconomic<br />

reasons. they increased, as well as the definitive<br />

migration to other countries, such as Greece, Italy, romania,<br />

Germany, uSA, etc., often based on existing kinship or due to<br />

facilities granted by Greece. In these cases, ethnic processes vary<br />

greatly from state to state. thus the majority of migrants in Greece
