For Eustatie, the penman from the village of huşi (county of suceava)<br />

the job he had during the reign of Antioh Cantemir was important: “I was<br />

with Iamandi, diplomat of Moldavia to Baba, to Iusuf pacha, commander.<br />

the year 7215 December 8 th day, 1706”. on the 30 th of June 1707,<br />

After Antioh Cantemir, the reign was taken over again by Mihai<br />

racoviţă (between july 1707 and october 1709) being replaced by Nicolae<br />

Mavrocordat. When there was another change of reign, dumitraşcu,<br />

nephew of monarch partenie bought a Gospel (Bucureşti, 1693), when<br />

Dimitrie Cantemir had come from Constantinople and reached Bîrlad 40 . on<br />

the 10 th of december 1710, dimitrie cantemir arrived in iaşi.<br />

only a few days before Moldavia started the troubles with the<br />

russian-turkish war, on the 5 th of March 1711, in a moment of rest, priest<br />

Ştefan coţman wrote on a volume by dosoftei, Lives of the Saints (iaşi,<br />

1682–1686): “whenever this would get lost, so people know that it is his<br />

and bought it for two new coins” 41 .<br />

the arrival of tsar peter the Great in Moldavia and the battle from<br />

stănileşti could not remain unnoticed: “since emperor Peter came to<br />

Moldavia and there was a battle with the Turks and dumitraşcu voivode<br />

went with him and the tartars robbed the country. year 7219”. priest Miron<br />

explained more clearly the event: “ever since the people from Moscow<br />

came to Moldavia and fought with the Turks in (stănileşti) on Prut and the<br />

battle lasted 3 days and 3 nights and on the fourth day they still did not come<br />

back, the tartars came and robbed Moldavia. And I, priest Miron, was in<br />

the tigheciu, surrounded by tartars, for 12 weeks, in a forest house, until<br />

the Moscow people attacked Braila and fought and then they went back to<br />

their country and a new prince came to the throne, neculae voivode”. It was<br />

around that time that priest dumitru from the village of străoani bought<br />

an Octoih (rîmnic, 1706), “during the days of neculai voivod(e), when<br />

the emperor of Moscow fought with the turks”. on the 15 th of July 1712,<br />
