Par!˚ (prefix) [para+!, not instr. of para: see para 2 c; in some cases it may also correspond to para'˚] prep.<br />

meaning "on to," "over" (with the idea of mastering), also "through, throughout." <strong>The</strong> ! is shortened before<br />

double consonant, like par!+k%=parakkaroti, par!+ kram=parakkamati (see under cpds. of para).<br />
