cho&, the former=P. cha..eti, the latter=Sk. k+odayati or BSk. chorayati, Apabhra'$a chollai; with which<br />

cp. P. chuddha] to shake or throw about, only in phrase odhun!ti nidhun!ti nicchodeti at S iii.155 =M<br />

i.229= 374=A iii.365, where S has correct reading (v. l. ˚cho&eti); M has ˚ch!deti (v. l. ˚chodeti); A has<br />

˚chedeti (v. l. ˚choreti, ˚ch!reti; gloss nippo&eti). <strong>The</strong> C. on A iii.365 has: nicchedet" ti b!h!ya v! rukkhe v!<br />

paharati. -- nicchedeti (chid) is pardonable because of Prk. chollai "to cut." Cp. also nicchubhati with v. l.<br />

BB nicchur!ti. For sound change P. chk+ cp. P. cham! Nija<br />
