some superiority of the speaker; name given to the brahman, as proud of his birth, in contrast to br!hma*a,<br />

Bhokkhi<br />

Bhokkhi at VbhA 424, in phrase sucik!mo bh. br!hma*o is a kind of Desider, formation fr. bhuj˚ (bhuñj),<br />

appearing as *bhuk+=bhokkh (cp. bhokkha'), with ending ˚in; meaning "wishing to eat." It corresponds to<br />

Sk. bhoktu -- k!ma. Cp. also n. ag. bhokt% of *bhuk+, enjoyer, eater. P. bhokkhi might be Sk. bhoktr", if it<br />

was not for the latter being f. <strong>The</strong> word is a curiosity.<br />

"village of revenue," a tributary village, i. e. a village which has to pay tribute or contributions (in food etc.)<br />

to the owner of its ground. <strong>The</strong> latter is called g!mabhojaka or g!mapati "landlord" J ii.135. Cp. Fick,<br />
