Addhariya<br />

Addhariya [Vedic adhvaryu fr. adhvara sacrifice] a sacri- ficing priest, N. of a class of Brahmins D i.237<br />

(br!hma*a).<br />

Addh!na<br />

Addh!na (nt.) [orig. the acc. of addhan, taken as nt. from phrase d"gha' addh!na'. It occurs only in acc.<br />

which may always be taken as acc. of addhan; thus the assumption of a special form addh!na would be<br />

superfluous, were it not for later forms like addh!ne (loc.) Miln 126; PvA 75 v. l. BB, and for cpds.] same<br />

meaning as addhan, but as simplex only used with reference to time (i. e. a long time, cp. VvA 117<br />

addh!na' = cira'). Usually in phrase at"ta' (an!gata' etc.) addh!na' in the past (future etc.), e. g. D i.200;<br />

S i.140; A v.32; Miln 126 (an!gatamaddh!ne for ˚a'); PvA 75 (v. l. addh!ne). d"gha' addh!na' Pv i.105.<br />

Also in phrase addh!na' !p!deti to make out the length of time or period, i. e. to live out one's lifetime S<br />

Addhika<br />

Addhika [fr. addhan] a wanderer, wayfarer, traveller DA i.298 (= path!vin), 270; PvA 78, 127 (˚jana people<br />

travelling). Often combd. with kapa*a beggar, tramp, as kapa*addhik! (pl.) tramps and travellers (in which<br />

connection also as ˚iddhika, q. v.), e. g. J i.6 (v. l. ˚iddhika 262; DhA ii.26.<br />

Addhita<br />

Addhita at Pv ii.62 is to be corrected to a&&ita (sic v. l. BB).<br />

Addhin<br />

Addhin (adj.) ( -- ˚) [fr. addhan] belonging to the road or travelling, one who is on the road, a traveller, in<br />

gataddhin one who has performed his journey (= addhagata) Dh 90.<br />
