Mihati<br />

Mihati is given as root mih in 2 meanings at Dhtp, viz. (1) "sa -- hasana (No. 328), i. e. a kind of laugh, for<br />

smi, as in mihita. (2) secana (No. 342).<br />

Mihita<br />

Mihita (nt.) [pp. of smi; this is the inverted -- diaeretic (P!li) form (smita> *hmita>*mhita>mihita) for the<br />

other (Sk.) form smita (q. v.). <strong>The</strong> Dhtp (328) puts root down as mih] a smile J iii.419; v.452; vi.504. --<br />

mihita -- pubba with smiles Th 1, 460 (spelt mhita˚); J vi.221 (=sita C.). -- Cp. vimhaya, vimh!paka,<br />

vimhita.<br />

M"yati<br />

M"yati see miyyati (Pass. of marati).<br />

M"lati<br />

M"lati [m"l, given at Dhtp 267 & 614 with "nim"lane"] to wink, only in cpd. nim"lati to close the eyes (opp.<br />

M")ha [pp. of mih, Vedic mehati to excrete water, i. e. urine, only with ref. to the liquid; Sk. m".ha=Lat.<br />

mictus, pp. of mingo, to urinate. Cp. Av. ma/#aiti to urinate, me# urine; Gr. o)mixei_n & o)/mixma id.;<br />

Ags. m"gan to ur.; in Ohg. mist & Ags. miox the notion refers more to the solid excrement, as in P!li. -- A<br />
