by 1,000 coins). -- aor. par!ji in 3rd pl. ˚ji'su, only in one stock phrase referring to the battle of the Gods &
Titans, viz. at D ii.285=M i.253 (˚jini'su)=S i.221= 224 (v. l. ˚jini'su)=A iv.432 (˚jiyi'su, with v. l.
˚jini'su), where a Pass. is required ("were defeated, lost") in opp. to jini'su, and the reading ˚jiyi'su as aor.

reading par!bh˚ for par!g˚ (as bhe*.uka wrongly for ge*.uka), which in its turn stands for par!dhetv! (cp.
similarly BSk. !r!geti for !r!dheti), thus meaning "propitiating."
